David and David - Urban Planners
As an urban planner David is able to see the results of his work from his window.
David has already achieved a lot. He graduated with a Bachelor for the Built Environment from QUT and is currently half way through his post-graduate studies in planning.
While completing his degree, David worked in the property division at QR.
David was inspired to enter the world of planning by his father who also works in the field.
What drew me to planning
“Planning gives me the opportunity to contribute to a positive outcome that is real and I can see the results of my work from my window. I really enjoy communicating with people, and to do my job I need to work with a wide variety of people like engineers, architects, environmental managers, lawyers and community members. I also need to keep up with the changes in planning laws. I like the challenge of working out the meaning of the laws so that I can make decisions.”
Career highlights
“So far these range from working with Cirque du Soleil, to being involved in major urban renewal projects across Queensland. The Northshore Development, which is transforming 80 hectares of port land into residential areas and parkland, is a particularly exciting project to be involved in.”
